A Small Orchestra of Voices
A small orchestra of voices

by Helen McCormack
The sea so insistent –
whoosh – again and again
A small orchestra of voices –
the neighbours
Really a quartet of sounds that hangs –
meshed in a hammock overhanging the breakfast
A twinkle of sound above –
a saltcellar on the tile floor
And that insistent, determined whoosh-whoosh–
Nothing bothers the sea.
