Moon on Water

Caught unaware in a turbulent fog of activity
By a stillness and beauty
Demanding attention
The moon’s shining crescent
Casting three stars of light
To point in line
From the black uneven headland
To this queen of the sky
Otherwise alone in the night
No other stars to dim her radiance
Just the pale hint of her fullness
A shadow completing the circle
While a lapping sea lies quiet
Subdued by this magical outpouring
Of penetrating celestial power.
Noticed or unnoticed
A moment of clarity
Offered in timelessness
Drink, and be refreshed.
